Smack dab in the middle of the action, on busy Kuta thoroughfare Jl. Legian, is a restaurant/bar/venue that has been in the mix since 1996. For the past 10 years, Maccaroni Club has easily established itself as the Kuta institution that provides a wide selection of first-rate Italian cuisine, an extensive drinks menu, plus live entertainment 4 times out of the week, all in a very distinct atmosphere and with unique perks such as valet parking (always handy in Kuta) and free Wi-Fi Internet.
The façade of Maccaroni Club is an intriguing site along the Kuta high road stretch. It bears no comparison to any of the many restaurants, bars, and clubs on the same street and definitely encourages many a passerby to stop and peek. The entrance to the two story venue is rather low and limits the inside view from the street. Concrete planters with overgrown greenery are alternately spaced across the face of the building that is designed with a modern European aesthetic.

Once through the deep entranceway under which are placed a number of tables and chairs from where to people watch, the area opens up into the sky lit main room with additional seating and staircase to the second floor. Large pasta-like tube sculptures hang from the high ceiling and break up the space artistically.
Maccaroni opens at 10 am everyday serving breakfast. The Breakfast includes a variety of egg choices for Rp 25K that range from standard Benedict-style to Duxelles - poached eggs topped with mushrooms and herbs. The Fruity Breakfast is a set healthy option for Rp 35K and includes Ricotta Pancakes with Walnuts and Blueberrys plus fruit salad and coffee and the Maccaroni Breakfast for Rp 50K is great value for the hungry with its juice, eggs, sides, fruit salad, and coffee accompaniments.
The Lunch Pasta Special menu includes 4 basic pasta, pizza, or sandwich choices plus beer or soft drink and espresso for under Rp 50K. And the rest of the a la carte menu expertly created by Balinese chef Made Tirtha, shares the same options available for dinner. Start off with a delicious entrée of Prawns in Potato Skin with Sweet Chili Sauce, Crab Lime Salad, or Tenderloin Beef Carpaccio with Italian Parmesan, all between Rp 30K – 52K. Follow with pasta (Rp 50K – 75K) ranging from standard Bolognese or Marinara to the more exotic Fettuccini with Fresh Crab, Zucchini and White Wine or Ravioli di Mare with Seafood, Prawn and Cream Sauce. The wide selection of classic thin crust, wood-fired pizzas made in an authentic over imported from Capri, Italy are extremely popular at Maccaroni and are great value at between Rp 35K – 55K. Until April 30th, a special pasta and pizza promo offers these selections with a free Bintang beer, house wine, or soft drink. If still hungry after the Secondi, outstanding main course options such as Oven Baked Butterfish with Vegetables and Orange Sauce, Grilled Swordfish in Tomato, Mirin and Olive Sauce, or Stewed Lamb with Fresh Herbs and Tomato will surely seal the deal (Rp 60K – 90K). If that irresistible sweet tooth beckons, desserts for Rp 30K, such as Pandan Pannacotta or Double Layer Chocolate Mousse Cake with Rum Marinated Plum will undoubtedly sate the craving. In the drinks department, Maccaroni offers up juices from every fruit imaginable, coffees, teas, smoothies, about 100 world wines, plus a staggering cocktail, apertif, digestive, cognac and liquor list.
Besides fine cuisine and cocktails galore, Maccaroni Club is a premier nighttime Kuta venue offering entertainment nightly and drink specials on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays feature music from the resident DJ with live saxophone and percussion accompaniment. And Fridays and Sundays highlight the eclectic and energetic talents of Asian Jazz Fusion band, Soul Flip plus a dance performance.
In Bali, where restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues turn over regularly due to fierce competition, a spot such as Maccaroni Club that has 10 successful years under its belt exists not by chance, but simply because of the quality and variety it has provided over the years and continues doing till this day.
