The first Beat Rock Fest was held at a small bar in Seminyak called Aina Bar back in Feb 2002. The gig didn’t have name then and only had one band, a fledgling Superman is Dead. They blew the roof off and the 40 people in attendance were treated to one of the biggest moments in Bali rock history. SID went on to play sell-out gigs around the country, pulling crowds of 20,000 people in Java and became the biggest band ever out of Bali. ….They aren’t playing this Friday night….but ten other bands are. We’ve got one of the biggest underground line-ups, . . .

Air Supply wrote some of the gushiest and over-orchestrated love songs you’d ever wish to hear back in the 70’s and 80’s. Having said that, some of those songs were fantastic examples of the love-gush genre and were so huge that they took the band to the greatest heights of the music charts of the time. Kicking off the night at Hard Rock Café on Thursday, the 16th, were local rap act, Korleon MC, (straight outta Denpasar) who flexed their version of the ghetto steeze. Headlining the night and contrasting the previous act, were the rookie, up and coming, boy-boy-girl-girl group, Tangga (Ladder/Stairs) . . .
