Michael Williamson
Thinking Outside Of The Box

Native Virginian, ubiquitous man about town, and now local artist, Michael Williamson, featured his latest body of work, “Debris,” at Axiom this past Wednesday, the 22nd. The collection, which also included collaborations with friend, David Collins, included 3 contour-cut and painted wood floral pieces as well as two larger works with more figurative elements. Williamson has described the main concept behind the work as “anti-canvas.” He has manifested this idea by painting on wood panels cut in various non-linear shapes and forms that are also off set to create depth. This technique is also revealed in his use and contrast of translucent and opaque paints that repeat the floral motif and reflect his vision effectively enough. // G-Force
