>>Viva La Booty
The biggest export from Indonesia in 2005 might well be controversial artist Inul, who’s off to Brazil in October to perform. The Queen of Drill is heading to the world capital of booty-shaking to pit her goyang ngebor (‘drill n shake’) dance style against the local samba vibe. It will be interesting to see how the locals respond to our sexy “Dang-dut” music, a bass heavy mix of Indo-Malay, Indian and modern musical styles. According to her manager, she’ll throw some bits of Spanish & Portuguese into her songs to charm the locals. Watch out carnival queens, Inul’s coming to steal some of your thunder! //gino++
>>Robbie William beats Oasis
Not in a fight, but for the popularity of his songs. According to a poll by one of the UK’s top radio station, Robbie’s ‘Angel’ was the favourite song of the decade from 1995-2004. 6.6 million listeners voted in the poll which ran from 1965 - 2004. The Pet Shop Boys’ West End Girls scored the title for the previous decade (1985-1994) while Queen’s Bohemian Raphsody took top spot for the 1975-1984 period. Surprisingly, none of the Beatles hits won the hearts of the people. /gino++
