Is that a Beat Rock Fest, mama?
There’s a rumour that the Kuta Karnival will be hosting another Beat Rock Fest on the beach come the end of June and it could well be true. If you remember the last one where thousands came from all over the island to see the best bands from here, Java and overseas bang it out, you’ll be starting to get restless already. We’ll keep you informed.
 
Fashionistas Beware!
Bali Fashion Week is not far away. Next week, we’ll be featuring a full report on the who’s who and the what’s what at the event but here are some facts to keep in mind. When: June 5 – 8. Where: Kartika Plaza Hotel, Tuban. Show Collection: Spring Summer. Hours: Exhibition Buyers: 6 and 7 June and Public: 8 June – 10am till 6pm. Dinners: 7pm. Fashion Show: 6 – 8 June from 7pm to 9pm. Biwa June Fair

Bali International Women’s association is holding another June Fair (Bazaar) this year on Sunday June 12th 2005 to raise money for local social welfare projects. As in recent years, this will be an all-day event, open and free to the public.The bazaar has been one of the main ways BIWA has continued to support such worthwhile projects as the Tabanan Leper Rehab center, school renovations in Karangasem, and the Bali Women’s Clinic in Badung Market. More recently BIWA provided funding to help Bali Sruti develop a short television commercial to raise awareness and educate local people about violence against women.This has already been aired several times on Bali TV. Proceeds from the stall rentals go to charity.

The Green Room

Greenroom, a new bar and restaurant, opened last Friday night in Ubud. Monkey Forest Road was looking like Hollywood Boulevard with flashing lights, fashion shows and glamour abounding as this new nightspot entered Ubud’s nightlife. Hard to say how the name came about as the building is totally white but we’re sure they have their reasons. Anyway, any excuse to get up the hill!
 
The Guns of GWK

The big guns are out en force as Castaway and Two Tribes take on GWK in early August. These two rave party organizers – both from Aussie - look like going head to head as both are booked to party in the same week in August. Fair enough it’s the busiest time of year, but will it drop, will there be enough people to go around and is it true that Bali has become one of the major Dance Music Centers of the World? We’ll have to wait and see.
 
Beam me up, Archie!

Bali Paradise TV launched their first in-flight video at Paparazzi last Wednesday night. Archie, pictured here and head-hocho of the whole affair, seemed to be enjoying himself as the video was played to clients and others. Later he claimed that this was the first of many videos to be produced for airlines to carry the footage.
