:: France… here I come ! !

A freakin’ hot (and lovely) day down at Kuta Halfway with the judges tower standing arrogantly on the beach and Ketut Cookie and Big Jarut yelling some magic spells to the contestants, a bunch of frothing groms from Bali and Cimaja.

This is the Quiksilver King of Groms event, which aims to grab some golden local talent and send him in August 2005 to represent Indonesia in France at the World King of Grom contest….yup, to compete against groms champs from all over the world including the States, Japan, Oz and more.

Well, the contest here in Bali was held on the 23rd April from dawn till dusk (not the other way around) with all the groms abusing shoulder high waves from the peak to the sand. At the lowest of low tide, however, the contest organisers were forced to hold the contest for nearly an hour to wait for better waves but the groms didn’t seem to give a s**t and things soon kicked off again with some massive floaters and sometimes a short, punchy barrel ride with the lifeguard team herding ‘em with the wave runner just like a bunch of cattle. In the end, Muclis Anwar was the last grom standing and grabbed the ticket to France with Tipi to compete for the world title. //gino
