The Beat Party

The best thing about a Beat Party is the way it has a life of its own. They start like this and end like that and what happens in between is a surprise to everyone.
The entertainment comes from the pages of the Beat magazine and in particular, the pages of the last months and year. There’s a lot of gifted performers playing regularly around the traps and what we try to do is pull some of them together for the one big night.
Here’s a tip for enjoying future Beat Parties (probably another one in six months)… Be there from start to finish because it is a journey and if you get on half way thru you may miss the point.
Thanks to the venue, M Bar Go. The Sponsors, Bacardi Limon, Fosters, Indowines Pisco, Heineken, Vodka Vibe, Kratingdaeng and MOD Surf. The Musicians, Gus and Cozi, Athron, Telephone, Rio, Superman is Dead. The Labels, Mooks, 18 People, Rusty and Stussy. And the girls on the bar. And a big thanks to all you for coming down....

Dec3 - 21.00 Start (not many bods in da house)

21.10 Gus and Cozi arrive and plug in.

21.30 The free flow begins and people are beginning to flow thru the door. The rock-cabaret- electronica set from G&C is setting the mood.

22.30 The free flow is finished and the drinks are taking effect. Athron from Sydney is on the stage banging out some folk/rock songs to an attentive crowd.

22.45 Back to G&S on the decks with a more upbeat set.

23.00 The crossover from G&S and Telephone
was performed mixing from one sound
to another; live n the decks and the
stage. Everyone involved was wondering if this was going to work but it came off perfectly. It was a great intro to Telephone, jamming over the top of a track produced by Gus.

23.30 Telephone, with a new expanded line-up and rockie feel, mixed with their electronic backing tracks, gets the crowd on side. Then from nowhere Rio, the meister trumpeter, appears on stage and proceeds to blow the roof off.

23.40 A premature finish to Telephone’s set throws a bit of chaos into the mix and eventually the first part of the fashion show kicks off. Up on the bar the girls are gyrating.
23.55 Surprise guests, Superman is Dead, take to the stage and mayhem breaks loose for approx 25 mins.

00.20 The girls are back rocking hard on the bar with the second part of the fashion show.

00.30 At this point the Samoan MC rappers were supposed to be on but due to unforeseen circumstances they didn’t arrive in Bali. The resident DJs took over with their RnB sound. The place at this point was packed and pumping.

We heard after the show that some people with invitations were refused entry or made to pay the cover charge.

We and the management of M Bar Go want to sincerely apologize for that misunderstanding occurring on the door.
