COZY The Real Reflexology

What happens when you are infatuated with reflexology massage and there’s no place to go that suits you? When you live in an island famous around the world for its massages and spas, this sounds a bit impossible. But for the locals, this actually was a problem.

Once upon a time, there was Debby. She went all around the island to find a reflexology massage that suited her taste and came back always with the same story. It’s either too high end (good but expensive) made for ‘bule’ budget with a dollar price, or good but too local, meaning, good massager, grubby uncomfortable place. “It was hard back then for me as a local to really find a place that I liked,” explains Debby. “And that’s when the idea for Cozy came to mind; a place where a local can be treated equally with expats in terms of quality and comfort but at a reasonable price.”

What started as a modest place for friends and family to enjoy reflexology became a sensation all over the island. Who does not go to Cozy? The place stands for its name, where you really get pampered, no matter who you are. As I sat with Debby in the back bar of Cozy, I witnessed many different kinds of people enjoying Cozy on this sunny Sunday afternoon. Local families from Denpasar, flamboyant Seminyak crowd, noisy tourists from Taiwan and even long time expat residents flocking into the reception area. So what is the secret element that made Cozy such a success? First of all, it took six months to a year for Debby to find a perfect masseuse that shared her ideology on what a good reflexology massage is all about. “He/she must manage to make a customer so comfortable they fall asleep.” Debby explained with a laugh. “The research I made to create the final method of Cozy’s reflexology was completed only through ‘blood, sweat and tears’. Over one hundred hours of training goes into each massuese. Now we can all enjoy it with pleasure.” Starting off with only 10 staff, Cozy is now expanding into a reflexology saga with a total of 62 staff and now open second branch in Renon complete with a beauty salon.

For you who haven’t tried a treatment in the legendary Cozy... Well, I don’t have to tell you to try, now do I? Put it this way though. If you really love quality comfort and one of the best massages; both feet and full body, without making your wallet suffer, this is the place to be. /MK
