Battle of the Bands at HRC

Was the Battle of Band scrapping the barrel or was it presenting pure genius?
Half way thru the second band and I wasn’t too sure.
First band up, Monday 22 Nov, was Bagus Band. Now, if I came out with a band called ‘Good Band’ at home I’d probably be sent packing but here it seems one can get away with such things. [Change the name guys!] The lady up front has a great voice and the band’s kinda funky but what’s with all the baseball hats? Bagus Band were good!
Next up was something different. DJ Rock from Sby came on stage and proceeded to challenge all present with a wall of noise from guitar, bass and drums. It was hard for me to decide if they knew how to play the instruments or not and the guitarist was particularly menacing. Next song was a complete surprise as they went into a Josh Gorban track, U Raise Me Up, with the same guitarist incarnating into a tenor singer and violinist. Less menacing in that track. DJ Rock had some really sublime moments and the whole idea of having completely different sounding tracks mixed like a DJ thru their set was interesting but to be honest, I don’t think it worked. The headache I had walking out attested to the fact. SS.
