Skool of Rock Finals start next Monday Oct 11

The Hard Rock Café’s ‘Skool of Rock/Battle of Band’ (sic) keeps on motoring on down in Kuta every Monday night bringing some of the best new bands in Indonesia to town. It’s now getting to the serious end of the equation with Semi Finals starting next week, Monday Oct 11 then the week after The Grand Final where the winner will pick up $1500, second place $500 and both, the possibility of a recording deal from EMI Records.
The Semi Final bands were announced last Tuesday and the competition was great for the four positions available but eventually, after a couple of recounts, the judges came up with the four. Let me assure you that it was done in a very fair and open way.

The Bands playing in the Semis are:

FASHA+ – (Jakarta) these boys just played last Monday to get through to the finals. The Lead singer has a great voice and a great act while the band does have a good mix of Indo Pop tunes thru to rockier numbers.

PAGIHARI – (Jogjakarta) they have a very innovative sound, confidence and rock savvy. The pint-sized female singer can really wail and they showed in the heats that they are a band to be reckoned with.

PSYCHO FUN – (Bali) The Psychos have been around for a few years and continue pumping out that Melodic Punk with wit, style and punching tracks. Home town advantage.

SEVEN VIBE – (Malang) this band with a female singer has a jazzy chilled kinda sound with loads of style. Smooth Operator get outta da way!

Four bands coming from all parts of Indonesia with completely different styles –and I might add, some of the best Indonesian bands going around right now - are waiting to clash it out in the inaugural Battle of the Bands and guess who wins? You’ll have to come to HRC on the next two Mondays to find out about the bands but one thing is for sure, just by being there you’ll be a winner too.
