More and more, Bali is showing a growing versatility in terms of the kinds of nightlife venues it can offer.

We’re not just talking Seminyak here – in Kuta, the quintessential warung with its thatched banana leaf roof, strings of international flags, cheap carvings and local band playing Ace of Base now jostles with design-intensive spots like Maccaroni and Kamasutra. Now the decidedly urban M-Bar-Go is staking its claim.

Kuta’s latest bar/club has gone for a gritty underground vibe, with stark décor and minimal lighting. It was appropriate then that it opened up on the Independence weekend, when most of Jakarta was up in Bali for a wild one.

A crowd was milling outside, as this was part II of the Bliss trilogy of parties, with guests being ushered through sliding glass doors tinted black into a booming industrial space with DJ Riri and pals looming in the shadows at the back. later i rocked onto m3......
