Harlem nights and Maccaroni

When talking about Kuta, who can ignore Maccaroni? One of the only high-end places in the middle of the backpacking haven, it is always bustling during this all-Italian August season. Almost every night you can catch up with some good entertainment while enjoying some of the finest Italian dishes on the island. Tonight the theme was ‘harlem nights.’ Sounds sexy and dangerous…

I got there just in time to see the last round of Rusty’s fashion show. The place was packed with all the seats occupied. Gorgeous models moved from the stairs down into the restaurant, weaving through the crowd sporting Stussy and Jive’s latest collections, from velour trackies, lycra T’s and track shorts to cargo skirts and embroidered blouses. After the fashion show, more entertainment showed up in the form of a ‘lady’ boy, miming a song by Diana Ross while cajoling some of the poor souls to dance with him/her. The party continued with some dreamy R&B beats, with a mysterious woman in red singing at the DJ Booth…how did her Harlem night end we wonder? /MK
