T he
Vegas Boys promised it all and we almost got it
The magnificent Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) venue was
the backdrop again for the second party in the history
of Castaway on August 16 with headlining DJs Marcello
Castelli from Uruguay, Kevin Shiu from Canada.
3000 people plus packed into the two tiered arena for
the party of their lives and I don’t think they
were let down.
The international DJ line up was impressive with shining
Melbourne lights, Jason Digby, Tony Crea, Paul Etheridge
and Donni1 providing the backbone to the night and star
internationals Castelli and Shiu providing the glitter.
Shiu plastered a great set of House that had the place
alive and kicking while Castelli’s set of Tribal
was fun but left a few people in the outer. At one point
we went to catch a bit of Tony Crea’s House in the
VIP upper deck just to get our feet tapping again. And
we did, successfully.
Castaway is a fantastic concept and a dream that is fulfilled
by a handful of faithfuls. This year’s didn’t
have the same lights bouncing across the limestone walls
of the previous year (the reason why they won the prize
in the Beat 2003 Awards) but it did have a hellova lot
people turn up. It was a big night and capped off a big
long weekend in Bali and all the people who helped put
it on will go down as da men. Without doubt The Vegas
Boys will be back, bigger and better, next year with a
load more in store for our longest weekend of the year.
