After waiting the full two weeks for Padang-Padang to find some swell, contest organizers of the Rip Curl Cup 2004 decided to hold the event at Uluwatu on Tuesday Aug 3 when the biggest swell in weeks – but still not big enough for Padang2 – showed its face. The 32 competitors battled it out till the last four made it through to the finals.

The final was held in near perfect 4 – 5’ Racetracks with Made ‘Bol’ Adi Putra triumphing with a combination of tube rides, 360 ollies and one perfect ten wave. “Thank you Rip Curl, I had such great waves and this is such a great contest, but that’s better” said Bol pointing to the girls in the bikini show at the party after the contest on Padang-Padang beach.
