THURSDAY NIGHT, LIVE MUSIC AT BARANDI
If you are hanging out in Ubud on a Thursday evening, check out Barandi. At the end of Jalan Hanoman, it’s hard to miss this sleek two storey structure with its open air comfortable lounge facing the street.

We got there around 8pm, right about the time “Tropical Transit”, the jazzy salsa style band, started. It was still pretty chilled out,
people were either relaxing and enjoying their cocktails in the comfy chairs or sitting at the roomy bar….meanwhile at the back, in the open candlelit garden others were enjoying fine Mediterranean cuisine and sampling the extensive wine list.

After the first session, it seemed like the whole place started to pick up…the band got going playing livelier songs and more people started dancing and really enjoying themselves. Whether you had someone to twirl around salsa style or whether you were on your own the music and vibe were contagious. The tribal beat from the drums and the jazzy sound of the double bass totally had the place jumping. But just as everyone was getting in the mood to party that’s when the live music ended at 11pm, which I’d have to say, was a too-early-end to a very-good-thing. So, the message is – get there early next week!

All in all, Barandi is the place to be Thursday night in Ubud. CB
