RIP CURL CUP 2004 July 16 - 31 - Padang Padang
Rip Curl Indonesia is proud to announce its support and sponsorship for the pioneering Indonesian Surfing Championship in Rip Curl Cup 2004, which will be held at world-class surf break Padang-Padang in Bali during the waiting period of July 16-31.

This is a contest you don¹t want to miss!

Set at Bali’s most hollow and dangerously tubing left-hander, Padang-Padang, which has been rated Bali’s best wave and one of 10 best waves in the world, Rip Curl Cup is sure to be a highlight of the Indonesian Championship.

Current Indonesian surf leader Pepen Hendrix says, “I’m stoked to surf perfect Padang with only four other surfers in a heat. It will be a challenge but I’m keen to win it and maintain my lead for the Indonesian Championship”.

For the spectators, great performances will be put on by the circuit’s best surfers in the beautiful scenery of a white-sandy beach embedded in dramatic limestone cliffs.

To guarantee a contest where the Padang-Padang reef break will be pumping with waves and giving competitors and crowd its absolute best, a two-week waiting period has been scheduled.

The exact date of the one-day event Rip Curl Cup will be notified a few days in advance when a favourable (huge!!!) swell has been forecasted.

“It’s the most difficult contest to run, because Padang-Padang is such a fickle wave. With a two week waiting period Padang should turn on and show the world Bali’s best wave ridden by its best surfers,” said Rip Curl Indonesia ad/promo manager Jasmine optimistically.

The Rip Curl Cup is a 4-star rated contest open to all nationalities, but restricted to 32 surfers that will be selected based on surfing ability and previous contest records. Four wildcards will be allocated by Rip Curl.

Total prize money. Rp 16,6 million.

Entry forms available at Rip Curl Kuta Square, Bali. Registration closes on July 7.
