Surfer Girl in Legian is trying
to raise funds for a community in East Bali and we thought
we’d try to find out some information of what it’s
all about. Asana Viebeke, tireless community care worker,
gave us some details.
According to Ibu Viebeke, the initiative in the Karangasem
district of Bali is to improve the quality of life in those
areas which have a lack of resources and possibilities for
its many residents. Access to the area is very difficult
and infrastructure inadequate and the group is hoping through
this initiative, which is privately funded, to increase
sustainable health services and quality, improve the awareness
of health issues in the area, to educate the children of
the importance in health issues and improve the general
standard of education in the area.
The target of this program is 120 women, 210 schoolchildren
and teachers of SD 2 Tianyar Tengah Elementary school. Pedahan
Kaja sub-village consisting 120 households, while the schoolchildren
come from: Dusun Pedahan Kaja, Moncol, Pelisan, Padang Sari,
Dalem, Bukit Lambih. The services are FREE OF CHARGE to
all the above recipients and inclusive to any member of
the community who needs medical attention.
The program is being managed by
· Yayasan Pratista Parisara Karana with collaboration
from Yayasan Sehati (for information and women reproductive
health services) – Dr. Inne Susanti,
· Koalisi Karangasem Sehat (medical personnel to
support Public Health services)
· Unit Transfusi Darah Pembina PMI Daerah Bali
/ Indonesian Red Cross of Bali, blood transfusion unit
(staff and Blood type and Rhesus checking equipment to
support the Public Health services)
· Politeknik Kesehatan Denpasar/ Denpasar Polytechnic
of Health (medical personnel to support the Public Health
services)
· Dinas Kesehatan Karangasem/ Puskesmas Kubu II
Karangasem / the Karangasem district health dept./ sub-district
health center of Kubu II (medical personnel to support
the Public Health services)
· Yayasan Berdaya Sehati (Yabes) (for early detection
of disabilities/ physiotherapy)
· SD 2 Tianyar Tengah / Tianyar Tengah Elementary
School 2.
· The peoples of Pedahan Kaja sub-village
