Bali International Open
world 9 ball master championship
at Paradiso Bowling & Billiard Centre - Kuta
It was an all Indonesian final in the ‘A Mild Billiard Bali International. Open 9 Ball Championship’, held at Paradiso Bowling & Billiard Centre over the weekend. A large crowd, as well as a number of bright lights and television cameras, turned out to watch Siaw Wieto, from Jakarta, defeat Adam Ar, from Yogyakarta in a closely contested final. Siaw was all smiles when he received the first prize of Rp 42,000,000, and why wouldn’t he!
Over 32 participants from across Asia battled it out for the title, with the total prize pool being over Rp100,000,000!
The Bali International Open has developed greatly since it was first held in 1997. Organisers aim for the competition to not only develop the sport of billiards in Bali and Indonesia, but to also support tourism in Bali.
Paradiso Bowling & Billiard Centre held the event for only the second time this year but proved to be the perfect venue and plans to hold the event for the next several years. But you don’t have to be a professional to make use of one of the 38 tables available at Paradiso, as our reporter proved, so get on down there and rack ‘em up. PG
